Weekly maintenance checks and knowing what to look for will help, but the annual MOT test is what truly determines how safe your car is. The inspection takes around 45 minutes to complete. Wait in a comfortable viewing area while we perform the test, or leave your car with us and collect it at the end of the day or after work.
Should your car fail the inspection, leave it at our garage while we repair it. We will ring you if your car fails its MOT, and if you approve the repair work, we often retest the same day for free.

While the typical test time is 45 to 60 minutes, using our MOT garage for repairs may mean the required work takes longer. If your car fails the MOT test, we will notify you and offer a quotation for any repairs it might need. We will never start any repair work without your consent. You cannot drive your car away unless you have a valid certificate or plan to take it directly to another location for repairs.
With minor work, we can often have your car repaired and retested on the same day as the original inspection.
The DVSA sets a fixed price for the annual test. Your garage must not charge you more than the specified rate, but many workshops, including our own, offer testing across multiple categories at prices well below the DVSA set figure.
If your car passes the test, we issue a new certificate valid for 12 months from the date of the inspection.

In all other cases, you can only drive away if you are taking your car directly to a different workshop in Lancing, Goring, Hove, Shoreham, Worthing, Brighton, or Portslade for repairs, or to another garage for a secondary inspection.
